SUVA - Week 9

New Mission President!
Bula Vinaka Everyone!
Well, time is still blowing by! It's been a great week. This week we had Zone Conference with the new Mission President! HE'S AWESOME! Haha, I already love President & Sister Higgins. You can feel their excitement to serve the Lord and to meet all of us. It's been a great week! Also, shout out to Aunt Melissa! I'm so excited to meet little Evelyn!!!!

Our Zone Conference was on Tuesday. It lasted most of the day. It was great! Elder Roberts and I had to give a training that welcomed President & Sister Higgins to the zone, so that was fun! We all introduced ourselves to them. It was a way fun and uplifting zone conference! They definitely have the "Greenie Fire" as we call it. It comes with all new missionaries coming in, they just have an excitement and fire to kill the work! I love it. They radiate love, excitement, and hard work. They are definitely called and chosen specifically for this mission, and for us missionaries. I love them!

This week we had a cool experience knocking on doors! We've been doing a LOT of finding every week. One day we knocked on a door and a lady looked through the door. She was VERY surprised to see us (pretty common.... I'm a "kai valagi" or white person). She told us to please come in and sit down. She then later explained that she is a very religious person and loves to learn about different faiths. She said that she knows lots of the beliefs of most religions, but has never had the chance to learn about the LDS church. She said she was always impressed that young adults would leave their homes so young to come preach the gospel. She always wanted to talk to them, but felt too shy to stop them when she saw them on the street. So she was very excited to see us on her doorstep! After a very spiritual lesson with her about Joseph Smith and the Restoration, she began to get emotional. She told us that she "feels something inside" every time we talk to her. We invited her to be baptized, and she said YES! So she's reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it. She's such a sweet lady and so sincere. The Lord is truly preparing the hearts of people before our way!

This week I've been studying a lot about the Priesthood. Man, it is a lot deeper topic than I ever imagined! I love it. To think that we have the true power of God on Earth today... It's amazing. The church is so organized. A really good chapter on this is D&C Chapter 107. How could a boy with very little schooling come up with any of this?? It is the Lord's church. He leads it, and gives authority to his chosen servants on earth. I know this without a doubt. I love this gospel!

Thanks for tuning in again this week! That's about it for me! I love you all! Until next week, keep on keepin' on!
Au lomani kemuni kece!

SUVA - Week 8

Still Going!
Bula Vinaka Everyone!
Another great week to report on! But first...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!
It was my mom's birthday this past week. Just so you all know. She's the awesomest, kindest, cheesiest, most embarrassing mom anyone could ask for. I love her so much. I hope you had a great birthday mama!

Also, thanks for all the birthday wishes! It was good to hear from you guys! I had a great birthday. Members made me a WAY nice dinner, complete with a delicious birthday cake! Birthdays don't feel super different from any other day on the mission, but people made me feel special this time! Thanks for the love!

My week was great! Another week of busyness! We have been working as hard as we can, teaching as many people as we can! It's been great. Lot's of people are so open and willing to hear the message! When we go knocking on doors, I would say we get in to at least 7 out of 10 houses. And then I would say that at least 4 of those say yes to baptism our first time meeting them! It's wonderful. The Lord is preparing people's hearts.

A miracle we saw this was a couple's news that they are going to be able to get married! The Elders have been teaching them for about a year now, and they are SO excited to be baptized, but they aren't married yet. There have been some complications that have had them waiting for this whole year. But this week they told us that everything is all ready!!! In the next couple weeks will be their marriage and baptism! We are so so so excited. They're ready to be baptized, they have such strong testimonies!

Well that's about it for me today! I gotta go! I love you guys! Until next week, keep on keepin' on!

SUVA - Week 8

More Sheep in the Fold!
Bula Vinaka Everyone!
Well, it's been yet another week! Unfortunately it's ANOTHER super busy day today, so I only have a few minutes! I'll update what I can!

We had another baptism this past weekend!! It was 2 woman, Finau and Siteri. They are amazing converts!! They have some of the strongest testimonies I've ever heard from a convert. They both know without a doubt that this is true. It makes me so happy to see people doing exactly what our Father in Heaven wants for them! It warms the soul. This is such an amazing work we're engaged in. I love being a missionary!

About some other people we're teaching: We're also teaching a part-member family where all of the children are baptized, active members, but the parents haven't joined the church yet. One day as we were visiting with them, they turned to each other, looked back at us, and said: "We've decided that it's time for us both to be baptized." We were so stoked!! I LOVE teaching families. Especially when we know that after their baptisms, the entire family can be sealed together in the Temple! The light and purity of this message is so real. How could it not be true??

Anyways, that's about it for the week! Not much exciting has happened lately. Just finishing as hard as I can all the way to the end! I love you all! Keep on keepin' on!

SUVA - Week 7

Last Transfer!
Bula Vinaka Everyone!
First of all, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! Shout out to all you father's out there! Hope you have a good day!

Well, it's been a pretty hectic week! But all went well. It was transfer week last week, and it was one of the biggest transfers I've ever seen! It involved so many areas in the mission. A lot of logistics to figure out! Haha. And on top of it all, my companion finished his mission, so I was kind of left to figure it all out! It was a little stressful, but we made it just fine. Now I begin the last transfer period of my mission! Just about 6 weeks left here in Fiji! Time has gone by WAY too fast. Missions are the best thing ever.

So yeah, now I have a new companion! His name is Elder Roberts. He is originally from New Zealand, but has grown up in Sydney, Australia. He's the same age as me. He LOVES basketball. We're way excited to ball it up during P-Day today. Haha. We haven't really served around each other too much during our missions so I'm stoked to get to know him more here in Suva. He's going to be my last companion! We are gonna have a blast.

The work is still poppin' here in Suva! We're working as hard as we can to find EVERYONE that is ready to receive us. I'm way motivated to just smash it all the way to the end! We're supposed to have 2 more baptisms this weekend! 2 AMAZING ladies that have the strongest testimony. They have such a strong desire to join this church. They both come from broken families, so this message is giving them hope and peace to their lives. They're both in their 30's. We're seeing them pretty much every day to get them ready for their baptism. I'm excited for their baptism! And for the rest of my time here on the mission, I hope to go as hard as I can.

The past few days we have taught about temples a lot! It's a such a blessing to have the holy houses all around us. I've been thinking a lot about family history work. It's an important work for us to do! With our busy lives, if we dedicate but a small amount of time to family history work, we will be blessed immensely. Sundays are a good day to dedicate 30 minutes to an hour to finding family names and indexing. Do all you can, and you will feel the spirit of Elijah grow in your hearts! The Lord will also bless with the Holy Ghost as you focus more on the temple and doing this marvelous work.

Thanks again for reading my update everyone! Shout out to Elder Andrew Lewis, who just recently got his mission call! Good luck bro!! Love you all! Until next week, keep on keepin' on!

SUVA - Week 6

Families
Bula Vinaka Everyone!
It's been a great week here in Fiji! I don't have much time again so this is gonna be quick!

This week we had another baptism!! It was a family of 5! Family baptisms are so amazing. It was a mother and her 3 kids, and then the mother's father. So a 3 generation baptism!! We did it on Thursday because of their schedule. Busy family. It went so well!! So many people from the ward showed up. It was full. It was so nice to see the ward support a new baptism so well. They all came up individually and welcomed each member of the family to the ward with a hug. The spirit was strong and the everyone was happy. I won't ever forget this family!

The grandpa of the family has one of the strongest testimonies of the Book of Mormon I've ever seen on my mission. We gave him a copy only 1 month ago, and he's finished 4th Nephi! That's SO fast! He LOVES it. He tells us that it's so much clearer than even the Bible, and he learns more when he reads it. He told me "I wish with all my heart to have found this earlier in life." He's 77 years old. I love the man. He spent his life sailing around the world on cargo ships. The impact of this gospel is just immeasurable.

I'm sorry, unfortunately I'm having some technical difficulties with my SD card. I can't upload pictures. I'll try again next week!

Well that's all for now!! I'll update you guys again next week! Until then, keep on keepin' on!!

SUVA - Week 5

The Work is Poppin'
Bula Vinaka Everyone!
It's been yet another week! I swear time is different in the mission. Somehow time just increases by tenfold. It flies by SO fast. I love the mission!

It was another great week! We had another baptism! His name is Waisale. He was the only one left in his family that wasn't baptized. Now after 1 year they can go in and be sealed as a family! It's so great to work with families. It's such a nice feeling when an entire family comes into the fold. You just know that they have the happiest times ahead! It was a great baptism. We did it on Saturday morning. He is a pretty shy man, so he asked that not very many members come. So it was just us, him and his family, and Bishop. It was great! He was so ready to be baptized. He's a hilarious person. He just cracks jokes all the time. For example, when he came up out of the water, he gave a hug to my companion (who baptized him) and then said "Alright, now let's switch and I'll baptize you." Haha. I love him.

So I had a quick run to the ER this last week. What happened was my companion was getting mugged on the street and I jumped in to defend him..... Just kidding. I wish I had a cool story to tell. But no. What actually happened was I fell down some stairs. Haha. A little embarrassing. It was dark out, and they were pretty steep cement stairs outside someone's house. Apparently my pinky finger took the blunt of my fall because it definitely looked like it snapped in half. So... Yeah. That was an interesting experience. Luckily it was just right at one of the joints so it was just a dislocation. A very intense dislocation if I say so myself. Haha. But it's doing fine now!

This week, I've been thinking a lot about Patriarchal Blessings, odd enough. They're so amazing! I read a cool article about studying them. If you haven't done this yet, try it! You go through your blessing, highlighting different colors according to these categories: Your lineage, personal counsel, admonitions, gifts and talents, and promised blessings. It's really cool to study it that way! Oh, and if you haven't gotten one yet... Pray about it! They're a blessing to have. A road map to our life. How blessed we are today to have the priesthood!

Well, that's about it for today! Thanks for following my emails! I love you all! Until next week, keep on keepin' on!
Au lomani kemuni!

SUVA - Week 4

Papitaiso!
Bula Vinaka Everyone!
It's been a great week! Life is super super super busy. But it's great! Shout out to my little brother Cam, Happy Birthday bro!! Hope you had a great B-day.

It's gonna be a pretty short email today, we've always got stuff to do. It'll probably be like that for the rest of my mission.... But that's ok cuz I'll see all of you in just a couple months! Haha. Just know that things are going fantastic!

Yesterday we had 2 baptisms!! Volo who is 23, and Raijeli who is 9. They went amazing! It was a very spiritual meeting. Volo was so ready and excited to be baptized. It's a wonderful experience to see the light in people's eyes when they are baptized. When you fully commit yourself to follow the Lord, He delights to bless you with true peace and happiness. And who doesn't want that? Man, it was awesome.

A cool story of the week was a blessing that we gave to a Fiji-Indian. We were walking down a street when a member called out to us. He told us that one of his non-member friends needed a blessing. So we went in and sat down with the man. He had been feeling under the weather and tired for the past few months. He told us of some hard trials he had been going through and how his body just didn't have energy to do anything. So we gave him a blessing! After the blessing, he asked us what time church starts! So we got his contact info and moved on to our scheduled appointment. The next day we saw him again on the street. He was WAY excited to see us. He happily and excitedly told us that the blessing worked! He was feeling great and was working hard! He told us that he'd like to take the lessons and learn more about the Church! The power of the Priesthood is so very real.

Alright well, I gotta go! Thanks for tuning in again! I love you all! Keep on keepin' on!
Au lomani kemuni kece sara!
